Atlas of the Great Irish Famine

Been searching around for reviews of this book but can't find any.

Anybody have this, if so , what is it like?

Got this book when it came out. There were reviews published at the time and I think they were fairly positive overall.

Excellent production and photography with sections on (i) Ireland before and after the Great Famine, (ii) The Great Hunger, (iii) The Workhouse, (iv) Population Decline and Social Transformations, (v)Witnessing the Famine, (vi) The Scattering, (vii) Legacy, (viii) Remembering the Famine, and (ix) Hunger and Famine Today.

I remember the Workhouse section as partcularly interesting. Would say it's a must have or borrow from a library if you're interested in the Famine.

Gee Bag

It's a well presented book (It would want be for €50) with good photography and mapping.

The chapters deal with different aspects of the famine and include a lot of local case studies. It's a book you can dip in and out of. However, if you are looking for an overall account of the famine you might be better served looking elsewhere.

the cheapest place to buy it, that I've found is Kennys Bookshop, cost 44e
