Career retraining options for journalists

Initially posted this in the media forum hoping to get some advice, but got no bites, so thought I'd try here.

I'm approaching my mid-30s and working in general news for one of the UK-owned papers with over a decade's experience. It has been obvious for some time that there is going to be serious scaling back across the board in the Irish print media, with all the job losses that accompany it.

I enjoy my job, but I'm looking for something a little more stable and a little less specialised which will allow me to move abroad if necessary (marketing, something digital, etc). The obvious option, PR, doesn't interest me at all, at least not in the terms I generally see it applied here, i.e. pushing stories for clients.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or can direct me to a career specialist in Dublin who would be able to inform me. Thanks.
