What is wrong with my car?

Drive a 2010 Opel Insignia Ecoflex from new

This morning the steering wheel sounded "strained" when driving at low speeds. The noise I'd compare it is when a hinge needs oiling or bones rubbing together if the cartilage wears away (sorry for that one!)

When the car starts moving at a reasonable speed there is no "grinding" or noise. When I parked the engine was chugging slightly (not sure if this is related or independent) and there was a smell not unlike a burnt clutch from under the bonnet

Checked coolant, power steering fluid, oil etc and all are OK. No warning lights on the dash either, and it warns me if the flipping washer fluid is low!

Any ideas? And if so any ideas of costs?

I am based in D11, any recommendations on where to bring it?

    Thanks in advance

Maybe check this, although if you say the power steering fluid is ok then perhaps its nothing to worry about.

    Thanks for that.

I might ring the garage I bought from at lunch

So dropped it into a garage today.

Pipe connecting the power steering fluid to the power steering system is leaking. There was however no recall from Opel Ireland for Insignias

Just wondering would it do me any good to contact Opel Ireland about if?

Did you drop it to an Opel dealer? If you did, get them to check with Opel for goodwill. If you've got an Opel service history then they will definately contribute something towards it.

If the Opel dealer have no luck, then try contacting Opel yourself, but it shouldn't get to that as Opel are fairly good.

Your description of the issue didn't ring any bells with me for the common issues so hopefully it's just a one off issue.

Brought it to an Opel dealer alright as they were the only people I found open this morning!

Have had my services done by the same garage as I was advised to stay main dealer while still under warranty
