I don't have a number for the marathon on monday but I've been training alot in the last 2 weeks so I'd like to run. I assume it would be ok to line up and run with everyone else, but not to collect a medal or finishers t-shirt.

Of course - just make yourself known to one of the stewards on Monday morning.

Yep, that sounds fine. Just make sure you run at least 25 miles on sunday. You want to be sure you are definitely capable of running the 26.2 miles on monday. Having to stop on the finishing straight would be really embarassing, especially with all the crowds watching you.

The marathon is 26 miles, sh1t. Better take it easy on the old beers on Saturday night so.

A good way to check if you have the stamina for the marathon is to have a pint for every mile you intend to run on sat night. For the .2 have 2 vodkas and redbull, just to get your sugar level up.

You be all set and ready to go, if you can manage this.

For nutrition I advise a strong curry on Sunday night followed by 5 pints of Guinness....clears the tubes out and you will be ready to rumble on Monday

Its great watching the lads with no numbers run the 26 miles of the marathon, only to be stopped on the end of nassau street and dragged off the course , :)

Got a number for tomorrow. He told me under 3 hours would be an OK time for a first run so I'm going for that. He also told me to ignore the advice I got here. 25 miles the day before a marathon and curry and pints is bullsh1t. He reckons Boards is full of joggers who would'nt know the difference between a cross country race and a track race (neither would I mind you).
Looking forward to a bank holiday morning jog around dublin:)

Thats what I was thinking. You even have 80 year olds doing it, but I've been reading some of the stuff about it here in the last couple of days - over the top or what?
