iPad vs. Samsung Galaxy

I've been putting away money for the past couple of the months for a tablet. I had planned to get an iPad but i heard that the samsung is better for downloading apps, that you can get them more places that the apple store. Does anyone have any experience of both and which is better. Thanks.
