    hi,
i have an upstairs shower and the wall below is damp.
i got a plumber in and we have discovered thats it not the shower tray but its the actual wall that is tiled.
we cant see any missing grout but i am wondering can i put some sort of sealant or treat the tiles (porcelain and a mosaic border) with some product or do i have to re-grout the whole wall inside the shower area?

Any advice would be great, thanks.

Is the joint between the tiles and shower tray sealed? also check the joint joint where the two walls meet from the tray all the way upto the ceiling. is this masticed?

hi myself and the plumber checked the shower tray and all is fine in that location, its def the walls that are 'leaking'.
I do have some Akemi stone sealer satin finish and some anti-fleck stain repellent. i am wondering should i put those on the walls?
the tiles are mosaics and porcelain tiles.
Any idea what order i should put those products on the wall if they are the solution to my problem?

I had a similar problem and i used evostick 007 adhesive and sealant. I stopped using the shower for a couple of days and then started by scraping out the damp grout and then re-sealed over all the bad areas with the 007 and it has done the job so far so good. I think the source of my problem was a pocket that was cut in to the wall of the shower for holding shampoo / gel, water was weeping down the back of that and the plywood expanded and broke the grout seals.....good luck

    Hi
is the position of the leak on the wall below the shower position / or to the left or right of the shower position.
I'd be holding off on sealing it - until the leak itself is resolved. Otherwise your just directing the flow of water somewhere else.
