Considering getting this laptop. Judging by the specs it's quite a good deal but are Medion a good make of laptop? There aren't many laptops with 6GB of RAM for <350 snots. Should I go for it? Are there any alternatives you would suggest?

    What laptop is it?

    It's not all about RAM.

Whoops. Was supposed to give the link. :o

I know it's not all about RAM, but it is one of the main elements. Battery life, processor, screen etc are important too.

More important is the processor, you'll find laptops with a Core i3 processor for only 30 yoyos more.

Can you recommend some, I'd consider it. I'm still weighing up my options and seeing what's best value. But 400 bucks would definitely be my limit, I'd rather spend around 350.

Being perfectly honest with you, I simply wouldn't touch a medion, when for not much more there are brands like toshiba/lenovo which are much more reputable.

    15.6" Fujitsu with a Core i3 2310M, €387 at LD.

That's a cracking deal. I'm considering buying this but if I can't get it (not sure if they ship to Ireland) I'll go for that one. I have a gig of RAM that I can use from my old laptop too. Appreciate all the advice.

Coming from the states you'll be hit with customs. Better to find one in the EU.

No import duty on laptops from outside the EU... but 23% VAT. ;)

TBH if it was on sale at Lidl/Aldi at a good price it's worth considering because you get 3 year cover
