On a day off with nothing to do so looking through some past trades etc. Some of them are slightly unbelieveable (with hindsight).

So a couple of questions - Who were your teams biggest bargain in terms of a trade? Looking specifically at guys who were NFL players already rather than trading picks in the draft.

And what were the biggest trade bargains you've seen?

I know a lot of this is hindsight, but maybe worth a look at that angle too - was it a bargain at the time, or was it only the players future performances that made it so?

Surely Reggie Bush for a 6th rounder and a backup safety (that ended up back at the Dolphins anyways) should be deserving of jail time for theft!?

This years one seems to have been Brandon Marshall for two third-rounders.

Patriots got the record TD scoring Randy Moss for a 4th rounder

The Welker trade, for a 2nd (Samson Satele) and a 7th (Abraham Winston Wright) looks good in hindsight too.

The trade for Haynesworth was a shambles, even if it didnt cost much.

Redskins getting every pick from Saints and the following year 1st and 3rd too has to be up there, even if they did damn all with the picks.

Ron Wolf just missed out on drafting Brett Favre for the Jets in 1991. When he went to Green Bay he appointed Mike Holmgren, and then traded for Favre, who spent his rookie year in Atlanta throwing interceptions. They traded a worthwhile CB, who went on to have a memorable career at something or other. Favre, on the other hand, went on to become a serviceable QB for a number of seasons (16) and threw a few TDs or so.

They also acquired the late Reggie White, but I can't recall the details. He famously became the Minister of Defence for their SB winning team.

Falcons got a first round pick the following year in the draft and they drafted Tony Smith a RB from Ole Miss oddly enough a former team mate of Favre. Smith did fook all in Atlanta though.

In 2004 we traded Clinton Portis for a second round pick....oh, and Champ Bailey. Portis had a solid career by any means but Bailey is a Hall of Fame CB and we got his best years. He'll go down as one of the best Broncos players in history when he retires. To sweeten the deal, the second round pick became Tatum Bell who was lead back for a few years after.

That worked for both teams as Moss was a complete disaster for the Raiders.

Herschel Walker to the Vikings 1989. After all the draft picks were sorted.

    The Vikings got:
-Herschel Walker (was a 2x Pro Bowler at the time, left after two year)
    -Mike Jones
    -Reggie Thornton
    -Pat Newman
    -Jake Reed

    Dallas got:
-Emmitt Smith (8x Pro Bowler, 3x SB, SB MVP etc. etc.)
    -Alvin Harper (2x SB)
-Darrin Nelson (Traded straight to San Diego)
    -Issiac Holt (Won a SB)
    -Jesse Solomon
    -David Howard
    -Alex Stewart
    -Alexander Wright (Won a SB)
    -Dixon Edwards (3x SB)
-Darren Woodson (5x Pro Bowler, 3x SB, all time leader in Cowboy tackles)
-Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1993 (traded to the Eagles)
-Minnesota's 3rd round pick in 1992 (traded to NE)
-Minnesota's 6th round pick in 1990 (traded to the Saints)

Most one sided trade of all time.
