After updating yesterday, I noticed that Singstar is now listed under my games. Anyone know if there's any way to delete it or is it a permanent thing?

Permanent, at least for the momen. It will taunt us everytime we want to access Tokyo Jungle, from now until the end of time. Or a software update. Whichever comes first.

Man even if you could move it over and have it under Music or something, I wouldn't care. But right in Games? I don't want people to think I play Singstar. Ruins my credibility having it right above Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes.

Yeah I thought it was odd to have it under Game rather than under Music..

Also it's going to take a while to get used to Trophies in the PSN tab

A lot of people asking for icon to be removed, optional or moved to music like Netflix icon is for TV being met with rude and sarcastic replies from Sony's Nina Scherer, who clearly needs a refresher course in PR, to the point where other personnel on the PSN EU blog apologised to customers for her behaviour

Only update my ps3 yesterday what the flip!

What more annoying is I want to open it as its there unused. I feel sick!
So stupid it can't be moved and then you find out about your ones attitude what a dumb*itch.
Seems like a bad idea that it can't be moved.

Haven't updated yet, but what exactly is it? Is it a playable game or is it just there to try and get you to purchase it?

It's an icon that appears underneath the disc game icon on the XMB. You can't actually play it unless you get the free download from the Store (you can purchase extra content I think.). It's pretty much an ad.

Yeah, it basically lets you download a demo set of songs to try out [does anyone know if there was a demo on the Store before this?]. Of course you also have to happen to have a microphone or two lying around :rolleyes:

They seem to be pushing SingStar lately, I saw a Starter Pack I never knew about for sale in HMV the other week. Obviously trying to capitalise on the X-Factor hype

I am more afraid of what this could mean for the future.
What other icons or games will be pushed to us in this manner? Surely we should have an opt out or the ability to delete it.

If it's just this no biggie - just an icon we can ignore, especially if like me you have downloaded loads of the free PS+ games. Personally wouldn't let this stop you updating - but it's your choice.

This could just be the beginning.
Could end up with a load of "sponsored" icons and have to scroll down through a heap of them just to get to your games.

I wouldn't mind if there was an option to move or delete it.
If it was an icon I was interested in, great, it stays - lose interest, then delete it.

Precisely what I am thinking.
Imagine it - Sponsored links - like paying google to put you top of the searches even if you are not a direct match.

Troubling to say the least.
Revenue streams don't always mesh well with customer expectations...

Especially since it's appearing for Plus customers. I know they give us plenty for our membership, but surely we should be exempt from any ads. But that would be a lot to ask I suppose.

I've all my games in folders now(Purchased Games, Plus Games) so if they do this often I guess I could just do a junk folder

I updated my PS3 this morning and I don't see any SingStar icon. I'm on firmware 4.31.

I wonder how they decide who does and doesn't see the icon.

I'm on 4.31 too but it's still there for me.
The new firmware hasn't added an option to delete it either.

I'd be really suprised if they don't add an option to remove it in the future though.
Either way, as Taltos and F1ngers have said, we could be on the slippery slope to lots more advertising on the xmb.

Noticed over the weekend that when you eject a disc you're left with the full screen singstar advertisement. Load of balls.

Anyone figured out how to remove this crap yet?
I tried installing it, and deleting it but its still there.
I tried installing it and putting it in a folder but there's no option for that. Its really pissing me off, AGAIN!
I hope the PS4 doesn't have this sort of crud
