I was on this forum about my car (daihatsu terios 2000) failing n c t on emissions .I got my car serviced recently now i have just noticed on checking oil level it seems to be over filled.ie. dip stick from low to full is about an inch long it is now about half an inch over full mark .Would this have any effect on emissions failure I would be grateful for any quick response as i am bringing it back to my mechanic tomorrow.

    ANTO

    Yes it would

Too high is just as bad as too low

    It won't affect emissions.

I wouldn't say that. Sticker on my filler cap says over-filling may damage your cat. I would also imagine if the engine is burning oil it's now burning more oil.

It might not affect you emissions would be my answer. Depends on the individual situation and how it failed the emissions.

It can in the long run affect it but first off, did you check it cold?
The mechanic can probably use a small oil pump to remove some if it's too much.

It could certainly effect emissions as excess oil will get blown, by crankcase pressure, through the breather pipes and back into the throttle body and then burned in the cylinders.

This is how the cats get damaged and how the emissions would certainly be effected. To what extent its hard to say though.
