A negative!. i.e, that I have NO income. My claim was disallowed for not disclosing all the facts as regards my income. Since I have had NO income since July, it beggars belief how I can prove I DON'T have an income. ALL bank details have been handed over.

I'm now losing €188 a week because they are suspicious. But it's just a suspicion and not based on any fact. I can appeal it, but what more evidence can I add that I do NOT have an income and am not withholding anything.

How the heck do u prove a negative. The next serious stopmis St Vincent DE paul and I've been holding off from them for as long as I can, but now it's really getting critical. I only have a few savings left.

I think you should take a trip down to your local citizens offic and speak to them. Also go down to the HSE (relieving officer) and tell them what is happening to you. They may be able to help some type of interim payment. Best of luck.

Deelite, I'm appealing it and will do out letter etc,. so I'll go down to tjhem after I appeal, but from previous experience , the HSE will look at the pc and see if file is open or shut and if it's shut, they just say , NO, can't do anything, so u end up being a tennis ball, going back and forth and gettibg whacked about.

If it's any consolation, afaik when it is approved you will get your payments backdated from when you applied. I know that doesn't help immediately but at least its something to look forward to.

You're right it can be a red tape minefield at the best of times :(

They would not give my brother anything either, and then only returned €6000 of an over payment of €40,000 PRSI. The system is only of use to people who don't bother working. My wifes brother can work part time for the local council and get €500 a week plus his dole and his cash work on top.

Really? I thought you could only claim benefit for the days you dont work? (and then it's only 1/6th per day) - how is he getting full payment and working?
