Just wondering where all these posts were this year?

You know the "I've been training for 20 years and raised 20million for charity, but forgot to enter, and now entries are closed" ones.

Did I miss them? Or has everyone entered on time for once?

Careful, my trigger finger was getting itchy. ;)

Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they don't exist. There have been a few though, but they get nuked when reported.

They are all on the official Facebook page instead. And they all seem to be quite successful.

There's been about 30 requests/offers in the last few days.

I could understand someone being entered but forgetting to train - maybe they entered as a resolution or after a few drinks, but gave up running after a couple of weeks.
But I don't get how people can put themselves through marathon training without thinking to check how to enter
And people who aren't first-timers, who should already know that marathon entry closes weeks before the event...

I can't understand it at all tbh... how could you 'forget' about a commitment like that? :pac:

You make a commitment (drunk or sober) and you stick to it!!

It's easy to make excuses to not train. :D

Unless someone has only ever done very small races previously (small in distance and participation) I can't see how they would think that entering on the day or even a week beforehand is the norm. Anyone who has ever done a decent sized 10km mass participation event should have noticed that there were entry limits and deadlines. If all you have ever done before were along the lines of BHAA races where you turn up on the day then maybe, but surely at some point you'd have spoken with someone else, or overheard people talking about if they had got in the London ballot or something and realised that getting places in city marathons takes a bit more organisation than just turning up on the day.
