I got a brain wave today to maybe buy a part trained spaniel for this season as my pup is only 9mts i wont hunt him this yr. Im thinking of building proper kennels. Herself has a lab retriever and wants a cocker and il have 2 springers. So im thinking 3x kennels 4ftx4ft with 10ft run coming off kennel ,springers seprate and cocker in other one with lab but lab sleeps inside so prob be brought in in night OR 2x 5ft wide x 4ft kennel with 10ft run. Put 2 springers together and other 2 lads together. Would 4ft be too narrow?

I have 3 springers at the minute and have a 6x8 garden shed with two 10ft by 4ft runs coming out from it. The she is divided in the middle so they have 4ft by 6ft inside as well.
I have found this plenty big for 2 springers in each side. I'd say it would be plenty big for a lab and cocker in one side also. Regular cleaning and exercise and you should have no problems at all. The dogs doze for most of the day anyway if there are well exercised I find.

No problem - that's sufficient space. By the way how is your 9 month old pup coming along ? I seem to recall you bought a pup out of Monalue lines.

Ok thanks. If you look back at some of my threads ull see how im going . Its hard work, dont kno if your doing right or wrong. The dog is a wild one in my opinion, just wants to do his own thing, mad for ditches. Lovely pup though

Lovely looking dog. Wild you say and loves ditches ..typical Monalue. Your'e on a winner there I'd say ! I'd much rather have a ''wild'' dog who is mad for ditches as its owrthwhile putting the time into such a dog, rather than a 'circus' dog who does all the tricks but has fcuk all drive and turns away from heavy cover. Very well respected springer trainer once told me '' when a dog is wild , mad to hunt and you are unable to catch him, only then does the real training begin and it's most likely you'll end up with a good dog '' .
