Hi all have flights booked to Sardinia next May, any recommendations for hotels? We are going to stay in Alghero for the first night and I think that would be it. We are going to rent a car for the week so looking for hotel in Alghero and two other places?

Also thinking of day trips to other islands but would it be a good idea to stay the night somewhere else or come back to Sardinia?

Our budget isnt massive, around €100 a night does that sound about right?

Any recommendation for good dive centres?

    Thanks so much x

Been to Sardinia twice and stayed here both times hotelmonrepos.it. Its in Baia Sardinia which is a tiny little resort on the north coast near Porto Cervo. First time we also stayed in Alghero for a few days in hotelsoleado.it. We booked the later through justsardinia.co.uk

We did a day trip to the Maddalena islands last time and really enjoyed it. If we are going back again I'd actually consider basing ourselves there.

Sardinia is expensive but you should get something for €100 a night, the Costa Esmeralda (north east coast) is the most expensive area.

Sorry don't have a clue about dive centres (we were on do nothing holidays :D).

    Hi,

    Was in sardinia this May.
Booked apartment for the week in Al;ghero, think €450 for the week.
Found alghero to be really cheap.

Sardinia is small enough,so if you hired a car u could drive around the island.

Friends have recommended taking a look at the Orosei and Cala Gonone area (Eastern Sardinia). There are great locations and beaches everywhere. One of the top things to do is a boat trip from Cala Gonone along the coast and enjoy the colours of a really beautiful coastline. It should cost 30/35 euro each for a day trip .

I was too busy chilling by the pool :D

Thanks so much both of you.

I think we are going to book hotel valkarana for 4nights and then go to gala conone for two nights but need to find a nice hotel. Want to do a day trip to la maddelena one of the days.

    Anything else you would recommend?

I stayed here back in July

There's a gorgeous beach just down the road, not sure about diving nearby. I did take a boat trip which was good fun and the other days just chilled on the beach. Think I got the hotel for only €50 a night, they give you a discount card for a nice restaurant nearby which was cheap anyway but with the discount was even better.

Not a huge amount to do in Arbatax other than that but I loved chilling there.

It's a bit of a windy mountainous drive from Alghero but not too bad, one of the things about driving in Sardinia is that if you have to go across (East-West or vice versa) you'll be going over mountainous roads so even though the distance will be short the journey will take a lot longer than you expect, unless you're a rally driver.

Might be worth asking on the scuba forum for dive tips. Lots of well travelled posters on there.
