Gabriel Byrne, Douglas Hodge, Gina McKee, Charles Dance, Rupert Graves and
Ruth Negga star in the four-part drama written by Robert Jones (Murder, Lennon
Naked) and directed by Ed Fraiman (The Philanthropist), which is inspired by
Chris Mullin's novel A Very British Coup.
A devastating industrial accident on Teesside leaves many dead and raises
tough questions about the safety procedures of the petrochemical company
    involved.

Pushed on by a lifelong commitment to transparency and open government,
deputy prime minister Tom Dawkins (Byrne) comes into conflict with powerful
vested interests - financial and military, domestic and international - in his
attempt to uncover the truth and get justice for the families caught up in the
    disaster.
Along the way, he struggles to keep his party onside and the electorate
behind him, as he weathers damaging revelations about his personal life.
As the investigation into the Teesside disaster takes shape, Dawkins is left
in no doubt that his own government is implicated - and that the devastating
explosion is casting an unsettling light into some very dark corridors
    indeed.

The original TV version of A Very British Coup (starring Ray McAnally) was excellent (still available to watch on 4OD)

This looks like a completely different plot, but given the source material and cast, hopefully it will be another good Political Conspiracy Thriller.

I wasn't blown away by this. I will watch Part 2 but I'm can't say I'm hooked. Hopefully it will pick up.
