    Hi guys,
Looking for an answer to this particular problem.
Test drove a 2008 VW Golf GT today (dealer), everything went fine. Car drove perfectly etc etc. One thing I did notice was that when I was accelerating the rev counter jumped ever so slightly. Didn't notice any loss in power from it. Gonna have a mechanic check it over but just wondering has anyone experienced this problem or what's causing it?

Is this a regular 1.4 golf, no turbo etc.

It's being advertised as a 2008 VW Golf GT Sport 1.4 TSI 120 BHP. I assume it had a turbo since it has the TSI badge on it. Did notice its the red 'I' if that means anything.

So is the needle just erratic or do you think the clutch is slipping?

It's a dual charge engine, its has a super charger and a turbo charger, they do give some problems with the regulator values on the turbo system. Your mechanic should do a scan on it to see if there is an boost pressure faults.

Nothing erratic, just a slight flutter of the needle when at lets say 2000 rpm. Any other way of telling if it was the clutch? The biting point when lifting the clutch from take off or gear changel. Definately gonna get a mechanic to check it. Its got 109,000km up on it but the cars been serviced on time every time from looking at the service history. Suppose I should expect some sort of problem at that kind of mileage?

That mileage is barely run in tbh and any mileage related problems would be down to a lack of servicing which in this case isn't an issue.

Say it's the turbo system, what kind of money are we talking in repairs? The dealer is offering a full service and the timing belt to be done for a fair price. Or should I look else where?

That engine doesn't have the same engine problems as the 140 or 170 bhp ones as its only have a turbocharger. The engine has a timing chain and not a timing belt which shouldn't need replacing.
