    Hey
I put a Cube Sl Cross hybrid by last month and gave the shop a deposit as he asked for. Now when i go to collect it on the b2w scheme they went and sold it. They are offering me a 2013 model for €50 more. It costs €100 more retail this year. They have been paid up fully by bank transfer.

    2013 cube spec
    http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=57597

    2012 cube spec
    http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/cube-sl-cross-bike-black-red-id66025.html

So i need a few options.

The 2013 cube bike seems to have cheaper component.

If i choose another bike i have specialised, lapierre to choose from in the shop

    So what do i do?

Sounds like the shop has broken a contract you both entered into. They should be giving you a bike of equivalent spec or better for the original price.

You probably put time into selectig that bike. Pay the €50, sure folks pay €5000+ extra for a '13 plate on a car.

dont pay the 50, tell them you'll take your business elsewhere, try to get it the 2013 with no extra charge, it's their mistake not yours.

I presume they sold the bike because the other customer wanted it asap, so they got the benefit already of an extra sale

Yeah thats them. 2013 has sora components. 2012 has lx and slx. Is there much of a difference. I was thinking of lapierre shaper 300 or Sirius elite instead. Problem is b2w payment is gone through too. I originally paid 719

edit the 2012 one i bought didnt have 105 parts

Seriously bad form. I would fully expect a bike of same/better spec for the agreed price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 786 ✭✭✭lochdara

Is the lapierre shaper 300 or Sirius elite of similar quality. I dont even know if i can get the 2012 models. i suppose i could get the money refunded back to employer if they dont sort me out

    I'd tell them go jump.

It's not like there's a shortage of bike shops looking for business. If they can't be trusted to keep a bike on deposit, what else can't they be trusted with?!

It appears that the broke a contract with you, and as such should provide you with another bike of similar or better quality. The XT parts are vastly superior to the Sora ones for example, so I would not be happy even taking a 2013 for the same money. Tell the shop you are taking them to the small claims court and will publish their details on this forum unless they fulfill their contractual obligations with you!

I'd certainly be at least threatening that. They stand to lose an awful lot more than you do unless they rectify this for you

Bike shop rang back and suggested a few more types of bikes. Ghost been one.

But also offered me 2013 model cube cross sl with components from 2012 model.

He is making an effort anyway.

The effort should have been made at the start ... not after your email. Awful behaviour and would not entice me to buy from them. Good luck with your purchase.

Im wondering from the 2 bikes
    2013 cube spec
    http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/p...dproduct=57597

    2012 cube spec
    http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/cube-...d-id66025.html

Is there any of the 2013 components i should tell him to leave on once he swaps out the gear components.

As far as i can make out, it was a crap mistake and made me mad but with a few people sales people in a busy shop a mistake can happen.. my 2013 frame is ordered and the 2012 Slx components will be installed during the week. (the parts are from a smaller frame they will sacrafice. I will get a extras for the hassle too.. Maybe i wont give them business too quick in future but they ammended things quickly, all be it with a request for full refund if i wasnt satisfied.
