What are the 1.5 SOHC VTEC Civics like? Is it a good engine and what are they like to go compared to the DOHC?

    Thanks

Built more for economy than power, I'm driving a 1.6 SOHC at the minute and have come from a 1.6DOHC (B16A) and there is no comparison

generally between 30-40 depending on engines health, your right foot etc.

if you keep no rubbish in the car, learn to drive it lean asap & maintain it 40 isn't a bad idea, Then save up and get a dohc. As is previously stated their no replacement for vtec. Real vtec.

The 1.5 is an excellent engine. I have the VTi version (3-stage VTEC) and I like it a lot. Powerful enough and very economical with long ratio gears. This engine is capable of burning lean fuel mixture. Easy to service and reliable at the same time. Can't fault it really. If I was looking for a Civic of that generation, this engine would be my only choice.

You could get some waste motor oil and smoulder it out the back for the full environmentally friendly diesel buzz!
