So a few days before the man with more than just a Goldberg-esque streak goes for the WWE title I ask you a simple question, do you want the WWE to feed you more big Hungry or have you had your fill of Ryback?

I like him. Right now though, unless he either wins at HIAC or they come up with one hell of an ending, they'll ruin him. Losing, no matter how cheap the finish, will demolish his USP and he's not built up enough yet to get by without it.

**** it. Have him beat Punk. Feed him Cena. Have him go over Rock at the Rumble. Have him go over Brock at Mania.

It's time they built a new Cena. Let's just have Ryback destroy EVERYONE!

Have him destroy Punk at least and win the title.

Stop Cena cheerleading and doing his promos for him too.

Get rid of 'The Big Hungry' nickname also.

The first few seconds pretty much sum it up for me.

I kinda like "The Big Hungry". I'd say in time they'll come up with something better for him, but for now, it suits his character

I've been converted the last while. I hated when he was beating up two jobbers every week as it proved nothing. The last few weeks they have been pushing him strong and letting him beat proper guys. He is a Goldberg rip-off but Goldberg's last WWE run was almost a decade ago.

A win over Punk will make him into a top star. A defeat is going to make him just another guy.

Has he had a match with Regal yet that Regal gets most of the offence?

If not, then he's a poor man's Goldberg.

Just think it's needless (like Sheamo and Great White) and that it sounds a bit like a meal deal in Pizza Hut or KFC.

Goldberg didn't need any nicknames and Ryback is basically Goldberg 2.0!

Goldberg did have a nickname; "Da Man".

Depends, really. I dislike his steamrolling through everyone - kicking out at one on finishers especially - and that little march he does but from what I've seen of his NXT days, the idea of him wrestling a proper match isn't a kick in the bread tray. So at least he has that over Goldberg.

Best match from him as Ryback so far has been against Swagger and then Cole and Lawler made it out to be just another loss for Swagger. Blech.

WWE have done a good job of making it seem like impossible odds for Punk at Hell in a Cell but Ryback with the belt, as he is now, would do nothing for me. Same as when Khali and Sheamus, the first time around, held it.

Pro pushing ANYONE at this stage just wished this came together in like June and not Wrestlemania season. I really think Ryback losing on Sunday bar a really creative finish will mean he will never actually mean anything. I would then have him lost the title in December in a 3/4 way without getting pinned after being screwed by a TOP heel.

Far too early for him to win the title.

Far too early to have the streak broken.

Is this Ryback's first non-squash match in the WWE, after almost six months? It's a bit mental that his first real match is Hell-In-A-Cell for the WWE Championship. His longest PPV match so far was 4:21 at Money In The Bank. I doubt he's gone longer than that on Raw or Smackdown.

I'm interested to see how he does.

Him winning would take the shine of Punk-Rock but WWE's priority should be creating new stars so I hope Ryback wins. I guess fans got bored of some of the other guys after they took too long to get in the main event, no such risk with Ryback.

i just cant take Ryback seriously, mostly because its just ripping of Bill Goldberg, He already has a streak, and uses the same facial expressions and mannerisms, they should just let him use his Music, the Jackhammer and the Spear and be done with it.

Its good that they've found somebody new to challenge punk and cena, but has it got to the stage where vinces own creative ideas for new stars just doesnt work anymore, so he started copying former talents and see how it goes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 983 ✭✭✭Hercule

The way he stomps around before landing his finisher is daft looking - it looks like something out of a cartoon.

(along with most theme songs in the current era) I am just not a fan of his theme music/entrance - Goldberg's entrance was far more impactful (even if it was longer then a lot of his matches) - but I personally would not have had it any other way!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 164 ✭✭louthguy25

I have a feeling they will let him win the title and then strip him off the title for some stipulation... They could even injure him and get an interim champion who will face Rock at WM then have a champ vs champ with Ryback against Rock. There are endless storylines they might come up with

I have a low level of interest in the persona at this stage.

When he appears I know what to expect. Throws, slams a possible botch/injury and a win.

Sure I am interested to see what comes of the HIAC match, but I have no actual interest in seeing a standard Ryback match.

I think Sheamus or even Cena have the right type of Superman routine down, it looks fine when I see them getting beat up in a match and even though the inevitable comeback is annoying at least the match looks believable (well as believable as wrestling can look). They come across as having a high strength, toughness and durability rather than the Terminator.

If Ryback had some competitive matches and won, then maybe I would be interested in him, but right now he comes across as totally unrealistic as do his matches.

Ive liked him from the start. They need to make his streak mean something now. Once he loses his star will begin an inexorable slide.

Have Ryback dominate the match, punk with little comebacks,
Then Heyman leads Lesnar down(if he is contracted?) brawl with ryback,
and Ryback is only defeated when punk and lesnar attack him together,
all the while his cheerleader cena is locked out of the cell,

So what about all the people who weren't watching wrestling back then? I never watched WCW so it's fresh to me, for example.

Well then ye should enjoy Ryback, but check out Goldberg and what ye missed cos he was far more believable then this guy, particularly in wcw and while his wwe run didnt see him at his best, his contribution in the elimination chamber of 2003 should not be missed either, he was just terrific :)

I'm feeling sick from too much Ryback
He's yet to have an actual storyline and now he could be Champion tomorrow? I'm sorry, I don't buy it. Wrestling fans complain that it's just big guys and the best wrestlers or talkers don't get their justice yet they eat (no pun) up Ryback, who hasn't showed us any wrestling skills or mic skills and no wonder Vince will push him to the moon - he's a big guy who fans love.

I have absolutely no reason as a fan to care or root for Ryback, so why would I pay to see him compete against Punk? I think he's been booked very badly. 4 weeks ago he came out during MizTV suggesting he might feud with Miz. Beat him in minutes the following week. That's not how you book a guy to be the next main eventer. He could have done with going up against Miz for a few weeks with a story and talking and then beat Miz tomorrow, but we've nothing to attach ourselves to with Ryback - the best thing fans have is they hope SOMEONE beats CM Punk.

If there are any buys tomorrow, it'll be all because of CM Punk and yet Ryback will have the belt thrown on him and given the credit. CM Punk has made fans want to see him lose and get what he deserves and that's the only real story in this match. Ryback is merely the opponent and it was never more apparent than when we went through the whole 'Let's reveal who has been chosen as #1 Contenter' bit.

If Ryback wins the belt, and I think he will, I'll groan and wonder why people who bust their asses and try and claw and scratch to be better have a reason to go to work Monday night when it's clear your talent is second to what the boss has planned for you.

My bets on cena screwing ryback cause he wants to beat punk and take the title off him this ryback thing is only cause cenas injured........I've also heard adds on the radio advertising the Irish tour next year with punk vs cena for the title

Did Punk lose the title to Taker in a pretty short HIAC match that opened the show?

    EDIT: Yep, 10:24.

Think Punk was being punished for speaking out about Cena and the dress code at the time.

Do you think WWE made the right decision turning him heel now?

He was one of the few superstars getting a reaction as a face but I guess with Punk out WWE needs a top heel

    From Ryback's twitter
Watching the pain on Cena's face was worth standing back for. Funny the 2 things he says I lack his ex wife seems to love. #RybackRules

I'm concerned about the heel turn. I don't see this doing much for him or his character. I hope I'll be proven wrong. At least it will give him a chance to express himself more.

Said it in the Raw thread, but say it again. It was a major misstep imo. The feud could still have seen Ryback as face, and they could have probably made him bigger with it. Now he's generic monster heel #110.

If they wanted a new top heel to replace Punk, why not turn someone like Orton who is crying out for a turn so badly.

Yeah, undecided about the turn. Particularly annoyed that he is acting cowardly now. As a face he doesn't have to talk, just beat people up. Unfortunately as a heel, he'll probably have to talk more which could backfire.

That said he's definitely the best prospect to rival Punk and Cena they have right now. He's one of the guys I could see headlining Summerslam or WrestleMania in the next year. Ryback-Lesnar, Ryback-HHH and Ryback-Cena all have a potential big time feel to them that could headline any PPV. Apart from Cena and Punk I can't think of anyone else on the fulltime roster in with a chance of being in one of the main events at WrestleMania next year. That said a year is a long time.

Surely they will need to put the title on him during this feud. He already tried and failed against Punk and another try and fail, could see him relegated pretty quick. Then again, you'd expect Cena to have a lengthy rain giving how he won the title after so long.

The match at Extreme Rules is certainly unpredictable!

D Bryan he is super over and if pushed and built up well enough as a singles competitor Roman Reigns could, Ziggler, Rhodes, Sandow and Barrett deserve a main event push imo, well Ziggler finally got his world title reign maybe he will be champ until WM 30 :p

TBH I thought there was more to come in the Ryback/Mark Henry feud

Yeah, it just doesn't feel like it had an ending, particularly with the whole post-match Shell Shock, it should have gone on at least another PPV or two.

After RAW and some interviews recently I have a lot more faith in Ryback.

The guy behind the gimmick genuinely believes in Ryback, he is very ambitious, focused on reaching his ambitions and has a really good undertsanding of the persona he wants to bring across.

He also stands out from the crowd. Going heel now will be a true test of all that but if he shows the ability to come through and put on some good matches then great. If not then WWE find out early and can give another guy the chance to step up.

Only Sandow and Cesaro are the only other obvious candidates for getting a good push out from the rest. They are the ones regularly getting tested by wrestling top stars in singles matches. So hopefully they get a chance soon as well.
