US resident - how to cash inheritance cheque in Ireland?

My Aunt lives in the US but she will be over in Ireland visiting family next month, she is due to receive a cheque from my Grandmothers estate while she is here, it's for about €13,000.

Does anyone know what options she has for cashing it here as she doesn't have a bank account in Ireland, or the best way to transfer it from here to her bank in America and costs involved in this? Basically she is looking for the most cost effective way of moving the money from A to B.

Her bank in the US will take it but it will take about 3 weeks (or more) to clear and she will get the currency conversion rate of the day its cleared.

Does she have to get a cheque?

An electronic transfer direct to her US account would be so much easier.

Cheers, I'll get them to check that with the solicitor.
