Hi I'm new this but was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I want to go travelling for six months and will still be able to pay my rent and bills, also will have someone looking in at it from time to time. Is there a problem doing this? It's a council property.

Depending on which local authority area you live in there may be something in the tennants handbook that says you can't leave the house unoccupied long term. Also, if you have contents insurance on the house it may be impacted because most insurance policies only cover for up to 30 consecutive days.
