Sids Bikes is another option if you don't want to venture out of Manhattan :p

    wilcoYHF,

If you want your gf to visit a bike shop for an edge.

Well I've been to all the shops there, but I got the Edge 500 bundle closer to home.

Remember sales tax in NYC is 9%.

and I have no association with mysatnav but I did buy my Garmin there...Veesport

The bike shops in the city are often expensive. It is difficult to beat the online deals from reputable dealerrs.

You should able to buy one online and have it shipped. Try performancebike.com, nashbar.com, or rei.com.

Looks as tho it is certainly cheaper on amazon. The girlfriend will be happy she wont have to go into a bike shop and embarrass herself!

Maybe the biggest in sales or warehouse space, but certainly not the biggest in retail space. Don't send her out to Brooklyn, The shop is too awkward to get to, especially if he's just there for a short time.

    Lucky you!

Only once I asked the missus of 14 years to get me a 700/23 tube from a bike shop practically next door to her office and she made every excuse under the sun to avoid having to do so!

From experience NYC is not the place to buy anything mechanical for cycling, it is pricey regardless and the exchange difference hardly makes up for it anymore.. but the guys in Sid's are a cool crowd and worth calling into just to chat with

You suggesting he send his girlfriend to Sids bikeshop for a chat?!

    P.S. she's going ring shopping ;)

She can shop for any ring she wants, as long as she's buying!

Suprisingly good prices on CRC with the 25% off sale at the moment on the Garmin Range
