It seems like Ricky Burns is working his way down the ladder with each defence of his title. Walsh has been a lightweight for a wet weekend, is ranked 13th by the WBO and he's getting this 'opportunity' .

Groves is fighting Glen Johnson on the same card. Another obscure fight. I was convinced Johnson was retiring after his last fight - a limp performance against Andrzej Fonfara. I'm not sure who this fight is for the benefit of? It's certainly not Groves or the fans. Perhaps it's like a testimonial for Johnson? One last payday.

    Vintage Frank Warren card.

    Sign with Frank Warren.....:(

He's not a bad little prospect actually, and should be going into British/Commonwealth and European title fights right now (even that last one may be a little early), but instead he's being fed to the lions for Frank Warren's profit. We knew this was happening from Warren's comments after the Burns vs Mitchell fight. A question was asked about getting Burns the big fights now, he basically responded saying Mitchell was a big fight, giving an impression he had no interest in getting bouts in America vs the likes of Broner.

It's a shocking contest and does nothing for Burns or Walsh other than help their bank balance. Ricky will probably be gutted with the opponent in honest, he'll have wanted another good test. Walsh actually said he wasn't ready for Burns after his last fight, which makes it seem even funnier now.

Burns will look about two weights bigger come fight night.
