saorview and sky

Hi, maybe this has been asked before but here goes...
I have sky coming into the main sitting room, TV aeriel into the sky box RFin, RF1 goes to the saorview box, rf2 goes up to the attic and splits the signal through the powered distributor thingy (8 outputs).
Thus I have the main TV sorted with Sky and saorview and sky going to each of the other rooms.

Problem I have now is to get saorview on TV number 2. I have another saorview box so I thought a simple splitter on the aeriel cable (one output to the aeriel in on the telly to cintinue to get sky and the other in to the saorview box.)....

problem is as soon as the aeriel is split, the sky signal is useless....its there, but not watchable...

Is there something else I need or have I set this up wrong?

    Thanks

Doesn't the Saorview box have an 'aerial out' socket (loopthrough)? Connect a cable between it & the tv's aerial input, there's no need for a splitter.

No, unfortunately for the second TV I went cheap (probably shouldnt have referred to it as a saorview box, its a goclever dvb-t)..

there is a hdmi out on the dvb, will the sky signal 'loopthrough' this?

You can't use the HDMI connection for that purpose. Best you can do is check the cables & connections between the Sky box & the tv in question & make sure there are unnecessary signal losses. Make sure you are using a decent 2-way splitter: if you're using a 'magic eye', you will need something like this one, with power-passing on 1 leg (for the eye). Avoid the plastic bodied type, even if you don't need power passing.

Hardly much point introducing more amplification, unless there is a seriously long cable run between the Sky box & distribution amp.

Thanks Peter. I'll try one of those splitters. The one I used was a little white plastic think that cost 2 euro.
the sky box is 2 floors away from the distribution amp (sitting room to attic), so you dont think I'd need further amplification?

    thanks again

You could swap the saorview box with the go(not so)clever.

Good idea. Also, OP, I don't mean to insult your intelligence by this, but if you have the Irish channels via a Sky subscription, they'll still be on your Sky box after tomorrow morning.

    Thanks Peter :-)
kids often want to watch something on sky, so need to have saorview to watch something else as I dont like iCarly etc.

so need saorview and the distributed sky in both rooms..

    Thanks anyway,

ok, so I put the 'proper' saorview box to this TV and used the RF loopback as suggested. All works perfectly well now. I have the distributed sky channels coming in on my channel 0 which I can change through my magic eye.
AV1 is then my saorview channel.

Only problem is that there seems to be some interference from the sky remote. Bit of random static on the screen when watching sky but press any button on the sky remote and the screen goes all fuzzy until depressed.
    Minor problem, but any ideas?
