Carbon Monoxide Alarm

    Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some information on carbon monoxide alarms. I believe that they are not required by legislation and that they are not required to be installed into a building by builders as it does not appear to be stated in the builders regulations. Would that be correct?

Also I have read that it may become mandatory soon for buildings (homes etc) to have the alarm installed. Is this correct??

Are the alarms required under any law?

I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

Not in the current regulations but the new regs are out for public consultation at the moment which has them detailed as a future requirement under certain conditions/guidelines.
Check out www.environ.ie and you can download the consultation document.

To the best of my knowledge you're correct in stating that there is no current legal requirement for a CO alarm in a house. It's not a bad idea though, a bit of peace of mind for small money.
