Ryanair cancelled flight question

So a friend was booked flights to fly return from Bratislava to London Luton, leaving Saturday 20th, returning Wednesday 24th.

Unfortunately due to heavy fog at Bratislava, the outbound flight on the 20th was cancelled, and they were re-booked for the following flight which was due to leave Sunday 21st.

Again however, fog struck and that flight was cancelled.

Here's where it gets a little bit interesting.. A Ryanair rep who they spoke to at the airport after the cancellation on Sunday informed them that the next available flight they'd be able to get would be the following Friday - however the Ryanair rep told them if they were to do this, then they would lose their return flight (as obviously the outbound would then be after the return).

Now Ryanair have offered to refund the flights entirely which is not a problem, however I would have thought that in this instance, they'd be obliged to also change the return flight - otherwise what's the point?

I'm not really expecting that much can be done, as it is Ryanair after all. However I couldn't really find anything on their site covering this sort of thing, so if anyone has any experience from a similar situation I'd be glad to hear it!

This is what Travel Insurance is for.

I would be very suprised if Ryanair waive any change fees for the return flight.

Not waiving the change fees wouldn't be so bad, however it's my understanding that the difference would also need to be paid, and for such a last minute flight it'd be rather expensive.

Anyway, they appear to have processed the refund at least.
