Was posted in the weird and wacky thread. I read during the week it wasn't even a school record. Amazing how the nfl record has stood that long but situation football means more often than not 60+ yard field goals aren't attempted.

There's a weird and wacky thread? Where? Sounds like something I would really like.

Didn't he have a kicking tee that significantly aided the kick?

well the clip shown shows it as a normal snap and hold kick. no tee on that 67 yarder.

That's some kick and if the kid in that video keeps it up, then he has a very lucrative career in front of him.

Talking about kickers on a Coaches forum and one of the coaches pointed me towards this website. Its interesting to see if any of the guys who kicked a long kick in high School or College ever made the Pros. Very few actually did. And one of the coaches actually made a good point that very few of the kicker with canon legs generally always lack accuracy apart from the likes of Seabass who is just exceptional all round.

It's a completely different ball, much easier to kick.

I'm not saying that it wasn't impressive, the kid could go pro, but I'd be suprised if there aren't a few kickers in the NFL capable of making that kick with a high school football.

That's 61 Metres. Ive seen out halfs kick from a dead ball situation 60 metres how does the Rugby ball compare to the American Football? is it easier to kick does it go further etc. etc.?

They tend to be more round and larger, which makes it much easier to get a clean strike.

An NFL grade ball has a very small sweet spot in comparison for a kicker to hit and as it's lighter wont travel as far when kicked.
They're designed to move faster and further when thrown with a tight spiral, not spinning end over end...

When you factor in the football and the pressure in the NFL you can see why there is a difference. It's still spectacular feat.
