Dog aggressive towards only certain dogs?

I've never come across this before but my dog has a serious problem with Bichons. Anytime I walk her she is cool as a breeze around every type of dog we come across, she had 2 alsations barking straight at her face the other night and didn't react even a tiny bit, just kept walking.

But then on the same walk we were across the road from a Bichon minding its own business and she nearly broke my arm pulling on the lead, she was also growling and snarling which is very unlike her. This morning, she did the same thing after ignoring a boxer and a lab a few minutes earlier.

Has anyone come across this before? She's a 5 yr old staff that I got from the pound in July.

It would seem she has some bad experiences with Bichons previously.
Maybe asking at the pound they can tell you if she had some run-in with a Bichon there?

The pound had no idea on her history when I got her so I doubt they'd be able to help. I was wondering would it be worth "trying" her out with a friends Bichon with both on leads, at least if anything started to go wrong I could pull her away very quickly.

My neighbours male rottie doesn`t like my female rottie, and she doesn`t like my friends female rottie who doesn`t like a male cocker spaniel! ha thats reads quiet daft i know,
maybe its bit of a chain hate thing going on may just be a dominance issue

We have a small terrier type mutt, he was attacked while on lead by two collies while out walking a year ago and he is definitely nervous and aggressive around all collies now, while fine with other dogs. Only happens while on lead though, when he's introduced to collies off lead that we know he's fine just wanting to play.
