For the first time i spotted a genuine deal in Tesco Dun Laoghaire at the weekend. I bought the last two of these 3.5" drives at €28 each.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Elements-Desktop-External/dp/B002E7HEVU

I thought they would be perfect for a HP Proliant MicroServer or similar. One seemed to have been unwrapped beforehand but seems OK. I am not sure if these are store specific - but its worth keeping an eye out just in case.

Would you pass one on, I'm badly stuck for a HD. That's an unbelievable price for a 1TB

You nabbed a great deal OP, good for you.

As for the rest of us, these Tesco pricing anomalies often follow a fairly predictable template - a wild goose chase that turns up little or nothing across the rest of their stores. :(

Rarely.. picked up a nice and speedy 16GB USB key in there before for about €8, reduced from something mad like €60!

The problem is the fact the price checker is downstairs - away from the homewares / electricals department - so we only notice these reductions when they're posted here or in the 'Tesco Bargains' thread.

But yeah, we rarely have the same bargains seen elsewhere.

Said it once and I'll say it again - definitely one of, if not the, worst Tesco in the country.

That seems to be the rule all right. Someone finds a genuine bargain (the first I have ever seen in the Dun Laoghaire Tesco) and posts to this forum with the unintended result being people make a pointless trip to their local tesco.

Tesco either make a lot of pricing errors or clearance stock is priced on a store by store basis. About two months ago , on my way to Kerry, I stopped in to Tesco Newcastlewest (which has more electrical/entertainment items than any Tesco in south Dublin). The staff were discussing the price of xbox 360s they were getting rid of for €99. These boxes were of the vintage that someone good at soldering might have been interested.

Anyway hope those in need of a 1TB bargain find it somewhere. Now I need to get started on that HP Proliant MicroServer.

    Couldn't see any in Dundrum.

I think I'll start a thread in Conspiracy Theories about how Tesco deliberately plant these one off bargains in front of known Boardsies in a devious scheme to boost their petrol sales.

I checked tallaght (square) they have no HDD at all haha stood around for 20mins while a member of staff went on a hunt for me. Came back with a Toshiba 320gb , useless . Have a feeling rathfarnham has none also , that place is empty.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

This is going to be like the Hitachi Life studio 1GB for €32 that was mentioned a few times in the Tesco megathread. I checked the same store about 8 or 9 times before I eventually got one. A few other people did too, afair. Worth keeping an eye out if there is a big store near you....
