BSOD on XP setup

    I'm trying to install XP on a dell inspiron 1300 (vista) which has been badly corrupted.

    I reach the setup stage when booting xp cd and it bluescreens

    the hd is ide so i go to change the setting in the BIOS and there is no option to toggle between ide - ata, any ideas?
