Cube or Lapierre Roadbike??

I am currently exploring the replacement of my Trek 1.2 roadbike and had almost decided on a Lapierre Sensium 200. I am now also considering the Cube Agree GTC Pro and am looking for some guidance / assistance please.

The specification is pretty similar - 105 components on Lapierre with similar on Cube but with some Ultegra components. The Lapierre has the lower end Shimano 501 wheelset compared with the Mavic Aksium wheelset on Cube. Apart from these considerations, after all the wheelset can always be upgraded to Mavic on the Lapierre - does anyone have any good or bad comments regarding the Cube or Lapierre. Both bikes are in same price range €1800 approx.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Have you only been to one bike shop? You might get more choice/better choice by shopping around a bit... Both brands are fine.

I have the lapierre audacio 400 and love it. It's the same geo as the sensium afaik. Have anything bad to say about it at all.

I have a Cube, love it, only thing to say is they size their bikes slightly differently to other companies so I am a 58 when normally I am a 56.

I have a GTC Pro, it was 2011 model but came with dura ace and FSA crankset. I wouldn't have any negatives about it, great bike. However if I was considering a wheel upgrade on the lapierre, I would be negotiating it prior to taking if from the showroom.

Thanks for comments and suggestions. I have looked at the Lapierre in 2 bike shops - tried to negotiate wheelset upgrade as part of the purchase - one shop will offer a good price (yet unspecified) on a set of Mavic Aksiums along with the originally fitted Shimano 501's - I wonder is this reasonable - I would have two sets of wheels and I presume that there is a very limited market for the Shimano 501 wheelset?

I have only made online enquiries regarding the Cube Agree GTC Pro - there are no Cube roadbike stockists in Galway to the best of my knowledge.

Will have to do a little more research over the coming days, hopefully to finalise over the weekend. Again, your comments much appreciated

I have the 2012 Agree GTC Pro.

The spec you get for the price is hard to match, and they're excellent bikes. I've been very happy with mine. If you're looking for somewhere to test ride both of those, IIRC Cyclesuperstore in Tallaght stock both. I'm not sure the 2013 Cube models are in yet, though.

OTOH, if you're also considering buying online, I'd highly recommend checking out Canyon and Rose bikes. You can get a carbon frame, with full Ultegra and good quality wheels for well under €2k from both.

Thanks for that info Con0r - useful to get feedback from a Cube cyclist - it appears the 2013 models are available to order online - the spec is a combined Ultegra / 105 components as opposed to full Ultegra on the 2012 model. Quite honestly, my preference would be to purchase from a bike store rather than online. I am based in Galway and it is unlikely that I will be in a position to call into Cycle Superstore in the near future - will definitely check out the Canyon and Rose, as you suggest. Thanks again for your response.

Many thanks for comments and suggestions regarding my issue. I have had a test cycle on the Cube Agree GTC Pro yesterday and I agree with Cond0r and goreyhead, it is an excellent bike, great specification for the price - to me, a better spec than the Lapierre, which on an apparently like with like comparison, would cost approx. €250 more. I am also taking Cond0r's suggestion regarding Canyon and Rose bikes on board - I have had a brief look at the Canyon Ultimate CF and am very impressed with specification etc. My only worry regarding buying one of these brands online is the assembling etc. etc. - any feedback regarding this would be very welcome.
