Hi all, I've bought a combi box for an old tv, setting it up is proving difficult:(
What satellite do i choose before I start to scan, the booklet also says to choose a transponder to scan. I choose one at random with limited sucess, it only found a small number of channels. I saved the terrestrial channels with no issues. Am I making this difficult for myself? Can anyone advise?

Its a 4life SV 400 box and I'm in County Limerick. I also have a new tv in another room with aTriax fta box that was working fine but now I have lost a lot of my channels on that. Are my problems linked?

A lot of the digital channels are moving around as bandwidth becomes available, you probably just need to retune your FTA Triax.

Silly question, are you trying to run both boxes off the same cable?

No they are in two separate locations. Tried re-tuning the Triax, got some channels back but no UTV, SKY news and lots more still coming up with no signal.

you dont say dish size and what lnb are you using? a single, a twin or a quad? If you only use a single and have what is called a loop through from one box to another then when both boxes are switched on you will only receive channels on the same polarity as the main box. In other words you need to separate feeds from dish.

Say how you ran cables, did you replace lnb and so on. There a few things that could be the problem so more we know easier to fix.

I think the dish is an 80cm and feeds the 2 tvs on 2 separate cables. Thanks for the help so far, much appreciated by a non techie.

when you got the sv400 it came channels for uk already tuned in so no scanning required. All you had to do was connect it up and voila channels would be there from the satellite. All you needed to tune was the digital terrestial ones ie saorview.

on the triax it was leave well alone.

now you have done something to move lnb and dish. when you recieve horizontal only it means dish and lnb are misalligned. ie adjust skew on lnb, for astra twist to the right as you look at it from the front.

you could have loose cables as well.
