Murray moneylenders

Did anyone see in the Irish Mail on Sunday about Murray moneylenders?

There was a heated debate about it in the pub this afternoon, some lads were saying it's awful that they're taking advantage of societies most vulnerable but then others (myself included) think it's a perfectly acceptable way to make cash. The way I see it is that they're just taking advantage of peoples stupidity which I don't see anything wrong with.

What are others opinions on the matter?

I'm unable to find a link so if someone finds one I'll add it in.

I borrowed money off a guy called Murray once.

    Never paid it back either.

Sucks to be him - down a fiver for the past ten years!

My next door neighbour works as a rep for them. He discouraged us from buying gear from him. I read the article and couldn't see the problem. Some people can't afford to spend 50quid on a new track suit in one go but 5 euro over 15 weeks or whatever works out better for them on a week to week basis from a cash flow side of things.

    Good evening,
Today in work a colleague said that she may have to go to a money lender because she needs cash til payday next week. Another colleague warned her against it as he said a friend of his got in trouble with one before, he wouldn't say what but he's genuine enough so I'd believe him about it being bad.

This got me thinking, what exactly do money lenders do to get their cash back? Is it really like the sopranos where they kick the **** out of them in the middle of the street? Please enlighten me.

    Thanks

Edit: it actually is a work colleague and not me.

    Hmmm...

Why don't they save a fiver a week for ten weeks instead and buy the tracksuit when they have the money saved.

maybe if you didnt p1ss away you money in a pub on a Sunday afternoon you wouldnt have to use money lenders. You're not a Sergeant in the Guards by any chance?

That's a great quote. Apparently he inspired the phrase "being a tosser" as well. His friends started using it to describe people who prey on the poor and fools, apparently.

The Murrays are well known here in Cork.I could say a lot about them but they'd probably sue.
