Hey I was wondering if there were any mechanics that can help me. I have my car well over a year but after the last spell of really bad rain I noticed that the car mats & carpet in my car on the driver & passenger side were soaking wet. This was when my car was parked in my driveway & hadn't been drove through a large puddle. My seats were bone dry so it can't be my sunroof leaking. My car is starting to smell like old football boots as the carpet under the car mats won't dry out. If anyone has any idea what has caused this or what i can do to stop it from happening again please help :)

Mine's the same, 02 Opel Corsa too. It's annoying but good to know it's "just the way it's made" rather than a big problem.

Have u had the windscreen replaced?

We had the same problem with our mini, turned out when we had to get a replacement windscreen fitter it wasn't fitter correctly.

Brought to BMW dealer and windscreen company ended up footing the bill. No problems since

I have a 07 seat Ibiza, never had the front windscreen replaced. Got it serviced recently & the mechanic never spotted anything, don't fancy forking out more money & bringing it to another mechanic but want to get it sorted before the winter & really bad weather

Happens on an 02 focus also. Common fault apparently

Are any of the channels that water drain off the car blocked? This time of year, leaves and gunk get into these channels and block the drains...and the water can end up in all sorts of strange places.

Pop the bonnet of the car, either side of the windscreen, where the rubber seal is, follow that down into where the water would run down into the areas under the bonnet. You might find lots of leaves in around this area, try clean this area out and see what happens. Recommend looking at all the areas where water runs off the car in a similar way!
