Does a FETAC/PLC qualification overule leaving cert subject requirements?

Basically I want to go to art college and plan on doing a portfolio preparation PLC next year, but I noticed that NCAD (and most other art colleges) require a pass in Irish for the LC, considering I literally know about 10 words I wouldn't be too optimistic about passing it. So would that still be an issue or are LC results not relevant for level 5 applicants?
    Thanks :)

Afaik, if applying as a FETAC Level 5 candidate, it's those results and requirements that count. It'd be no harm to drop an email to the college to get this confirmed however.

Find a further education college with a link to NCAD. Lots of Vecs have university links and it can really smooth the way. But I would agree that from fetac
Level 5 onwards supersedes your leaving certificate results.

In some cases if using a FETAC award to gain entry there may be Leaving Cert subject requirements. It varies from college to college. So the information by OPs posted above is not 100% accurate. All FETAC links are via CAO and not between VECs and Universities or Institutes of Technology and usually the information is available on their website but a new system for entry from 2013 will apply as FETAC is moving to a Common Awards System. So contact the admissions office at NCAD and establish the entry criteria if using a FETAC award. Only they can give you correct information.
