    Should be easy to most but has me stumped!

    2x = -3/2

    What is "x"'s value? And how do you get it?

    I'm looking at notes and it states the answer as:

    x = -3/4

    Is this a typo and if not, how did the the 2 on the left manipulate the fraction on the right?

    Thanks a lot!

    The answer is right.
    if 2x = -3/2
    then to get x, you will have to divide both sides by 2.
    so -3/4 divided by 2 = -3/4

    to divide by a fraction just turn it upside down and multiply:

    -3/2 divided by 2/1 = -3/2 multiplied by 1/2
