    Hi Guys,

read that the old POD on Harcourt street is to reopen as a Las Vegas style nightclub called the Marquee Club.

Article in the Herald about it.

There is a facebook page for it. Anyone any info?

Great news for Harcourt street and more importantly, jobs for barstaff, waiters, chefs etc. I wish the new owners the best of luck.

The Odeon is also reopening next month :D

What's a las Vegas style club?

A club decorated with a Las Vegas theme?
Or a club that is ran as if it's in Las Vegas?
    Or something else?

    Edit.

Never liked the pod, but the ref box was ace. Seen some cracking gigs/ DJ's at that venue.
is the market for dance clubs in Dublin anymore? They all seem to close down

Is it a listed / protected building as the old railway station I wonder?
I do hope the original structure is kept.

I remember the POD used to travel up monthly from Clare
Paddy Sheridan was on the wheels of Steel.

I still remember when he dropped the tune "The music sounds better with you" by Stardust....

    Happy day's.

I can't see it been made into offices it's very dark inside.

They would need to have lights on 24/7.

It is much more suited to being a nightclub or a concert venue.

What was it like inside the offices? I can only imagine it being fairly grim with so few windows.

Read the recent posts on the thread - it is being re-converted to offices. It is not and never will reopen as a nightclub and this has been known for years.

The entire platform structure and undercrofts, e.g. all of Pod/Tripod/Crawdaddy/Chocolate Bar as was.

Odeon in the ticket office isn't changing.

I got excited there. Dublin sucks for clubs these days. The hangar is closing soon and the Tivoli which hosts District 8.

Both have had the planning for their redevelopment approved. District 8's statements about staying open sounded like head in the sand at best.
