If you are willing to go 2nd hand you will see a good few over the winter going up on done deal and adverts. Besides that perhaps get a Bikefit before you purchase the bike, he might steer you towards what would suit you best

my preference is definately first hand, and i would have thought that i would simply get the same size as my racer(56cm) but your right i wont be buying without the advice of a bike shop first

You usually go down a size with a TT bike, theres a good chance you will be a 54 in most TT bikes.

I'd actually get the bike fit first from someone specialised int that field first. From the bike fit session you will then be able to get the best frame geometry that suits you rather than trying to make a 'stock' shop bike fit you.

Well worth the up front investment IMO.

Agree down a size. I was having a fitting done recently and one of the lads wondered over and commented how the frame really suited me. Its a size smaller than my readied. You can make lots of adjustments to your set up, saddle, stem, crank etc.. Your options will be more limited if you are stretched by the frame already
Consider the geometry too. Have you a long torso and short legs or vice versa?
2.3k Will get you a good frame only or a low end low spec full bike. Id recommend a think about 2nd hand. Trithletes generally look after their bikes and upgrade often. There is great bang for 2.3k on the 2nd hand market if you search around and keep your eyes open...

im 5'11 and i have long legs and short torso, the problem i see with second hand is it can be very hard to know the true wear and tear the bike has gone through, i just think i would be more comfortable going with a new bike

the geometry of TT bikes are differently to road bikes steeper seat tub, shorter cross tube etc, if your road bike is a 56 then you are probably looking at a 53 frame, but as said if you are spending 2.3k on a bike get a fit done, no point in guessing, also you could look at the bike to work scheme if you qualify may knock a few quid off the bike.

regardless of the bike or cost if it does not fit you, you wont get the benefit.

Dont know what everyone elses opinion is of the new Canyon bikes that have just come out but I am really impressed by the aluminium frame version. Just around your price range. Thinking about purchasing myself...

    Without a doubt....

However worth doing a bit of research as the previous posters have said. Regarding the P2, I believe the frames are designed to be the same as a road bike when choosing the size. So if you ride a 54 road you would go with the 54 Cervelo TT...but I would go smaller if in doubt.
