I've had a really tough few weeks, I tried to commit suicide 2 weeks ago due to anxiety and depression getting on top of me. I've also have a problem with drink and drugs, which I'm working hard on and have been clean since my incident.

The first week after was a nightmare, then things picked up a little bit, but my anxiety and depression is coming back badly. I felt quite let down by the hospital and my G.P. for not giving me any support.

I'm going through one of the most traumatic things a person can go through and nobody seems to care, I need help.

Are there any anxiety/depression groups out there for free which can help or counselling services, I'm dealing with my addiction problems, I really want to change my life around. This is my last chance really.

Hey, l'm sorry to hear that :/ you've taken the 1st step to recover & fix things so well done, your on the right path!

Do you have any friends or family around that can support you? Anyone close you can talk to?

I don't know of any groups etc in Dublin cause I don't live there but counselling is great...I can't recommend it enough. A counsellor is there to listen, give support & advice to you. I had counselling myself & it felt so good to just let everything out & just the fact someone was there to listen & try & help me. The 1st session is the hardest but once you go through it it gets easier.

You say your unhappy with your GP, change to a different one?

At the end of the day its only you that can change yourself, its up to you & even though I don't know you...I believe you can get through it...believe in yourself. Get help & work from there. Please don't give up....this is your life, make the most of it!

Hey mate, sorry to hear of your tough time, I know how it feels to be that low. I've been there and have made it through to the other side. My suggestion would be to get in touch with pieta house www.pieta.ie which is a suicide prevention and counselling centre and a place I would highly recommend. There are other organisations that you could get in touch with as well such as:
    http://www.console.ie/
    http://www.aware.ie/
    http://www.dublinsamaritans.ie/
    http://www.1life.ie/
    http://www.nosp.ie/
    http://www.headstrong.ie/
    http://www.niteline.ie
I know things feel absolutely awful right now but what I can guarantee is that things will get better. You have already started on that path and your best bet is to stay on it.
A friend once described depression as the black dog. It can come in different sizes and different types but it still bites, and hard. Take the first step and get a ticket to that train to recovery. I wish you the best mate and If you want any more advice, feel free to get in touch

Sorry to hear that. If your gp doesn't organise counselling for you maybe the samaritans could assist you to find a counsellor to help you out of your depression so that you can enjoy life again. Came across these below - might be worth speaking to them to see if they can help with some counselling for you. Best wishes as you continue your recovery. :)

Sorry to hear you've been going through such a difficult time.

Your GP can refer you for free counselling services through the HSE Community Mental Health team. You would have to meet the psychiatrist first and then be referred to a Psychologist or Counsellor. There will likely be a waiting list unfortunately. But don't be afraid to ask him to refer you if he doesn't suggest it.

There is also usually low cost counselling availble through community schemes.

Grow also hold meetings http://grow.ie and might be worth checking out.

Best of luck with it all.
