    Lads,

Had the missus in the jewellers today and was showing her the Omega Seamaster, dropping serious hints that it would make an exceptional Xmas gift for me.

Had the tables turned when she spotted this

    http://www.thefinestwatches.com/omega-de-ville-ladymatic-watch-42530342005001-p-5352-18474.html

Looks like I'll be foregoing the Seamaster.

Don't know much (apart from what I like visually) about men's watches and even less about ladies! (watches)

Anybody know anything about this watch, and any tips where to buy it? (it was a shade over €5k in the jewellers)

    Thanks TbL

I'd appreciate any feedback as it ain't cheap

Without wanting to make sexist generalisations, women often appreciate the visual aspect of watches more than they do the mechanical innards. With that in mind, rather than paying a fortune for a nice looking watch with a co-axial mechanical movement, I'd be inclined to look for a less costly but visually similar quartz (or even automatic) watch that looks as good (to her) but won't break the bank. Something with a mother of pearl dial, perhaps?

    Thanks Monty Burnz,

That Sinn is nice but she wouldn't like the numerals on the face and I think the "unusual" face of the Ladymatic appealed to her.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated as it might get the Seamaster back on the Xmas list.

    Thanks

    TbL

i love my wife so much......i want to cut of my left arm....and buy her this one! http://www.omegawatches.com/ladies/seamaster/planet-ocean/23233382004001

although seriously i dont think left arms are worth as much as internal organs.

that seamaster is way more cooler than a ladymatic. ladymatics are too girly.

    Does not compute....:p

Why does you buying her one preclude you from getting one as a gift from her ?

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

Sorry, but I don't get this at all!! :)

5k for a watch for the missus when she wasn’t even looking for one?........ does she REALLY REALLY like her watches? because as someone else pointed out, most women prefer how a watch looks rather than the movement/history etc etc

I know that's a generalisation, and apologies if I’ve offended anyone but IMO you'd be mad!

I stand to be corrected of course – get your Seamaster and get her a Cartier quartz, or a Longines - unless she has an appreciation of the Omega Co-Axial!!

Got this watch last week in the Omega shop in T1 in Heathrow.

Got it for the VAT exclusive price but despite haggling they wouldn't drop another quid off the price to the extent that they wouldn't even round it down tothe nearest pound!!!

You were worse, I would of told them to go f*ck themselves. There's hardly a queue with people buying luxury watches these days.
