I have a Citroen C4, 05 reg. The heater has stopped working - found this out last week when the car wouldn't heat up! Brought it to local Citroen dealer and was told the problem is with the Heater Housing - it will have to be replaced. Part cost - 509 Euro, labour estimate 500 Euro. Is there any cheap fix possible - want to get rid of the car, don't want to have to spend that kind of money on it before I trade it in somewhere. How easy is it to get Citroen C4 parts second hand?

It might have the same heating system as my peugeot 407 (05). The dual zone climate control matrix goes through exercise when the car starts moving the flaps up and down. The plastic is very brittle and it cold weather the flaps can snap. That's what happened to mine shortly after I bought the car. I did a lot of investigating into it and I couldn't find a cheap way of doing it. The entire matrix needed to be replaced which involved removing the entire dashboard. I decided to bring it back to the peugeot dealer in nenagh where I bought the car. I thought it best to bring it there as I was sure they would give me a discount on the labour. I expected them to have the car for about a week. I took a loan of a car from them and went to a gig in Dublin and stayed in a hotel that night. I got a call from them the following morning to day that my car was ready and there was no charge!
Apparently, there's a peugeot tech there that can strip these cars out blindfold and he had it done in a matter of hours. The replacement matrix is made of much more durable stuff.
It might be worth your while giving them a call.

Broken heater flaps in the 407's is a common enough problem alright.....Tbh i did'nt think the c4's had the same problem.

Op..have you got dual zone climate control or is it standard aircon...?
