Just saw pics of them in Dublin alright, didn't know they were going to be here. It's a shame as I'd like to have seen them.

That's a nice touch, well done DCU. In these days of such negative cycling coverage dominated by one LA I wish people would focus a bit more on DR and his Cork coach.

It was a youth squad day only today in DCU, I only managed to get in as I'm involved with coaching afew of the kids that were invited! They keep word on the guest speaker very quiet, we weren't sure till they said this morning that it would be him! Inspirational speech from Brother Colm also, he really really knows his stuff!

    KENYAN OLYMPIAN VISITS CORK.

    Monday 22 October 2012

Kenyan olympic sensation David Rudisha will be a guest of honour at two
North Cork schools this morning, with his Mallow-born running coach.
The 6 foot 3 inch 23 year old has become both Olympic and World Champion
and caputured both the World and Olympic records over 800m,
under the direction of Br. Colm O'Connell, who's been his coach for 8 years.
The two were given a civic reception at Mallow Town Hall on Saturday,
and will visit the Patrician Academy school and Mallow National School today.
David Rudisha says he's honoured to be in his coach's home town..
Br. Colm O'Connel, who has been in Kenya for 36 years, is a past pupil of
the National School in Mallow, and a member of the Patrician order.
He says he's immensely proud to bring his young champion home....

Gutted to have missed the opportunity to meet him on Saturday in Mallow. Anybody know if he has any other public engagements before he leaves us?

Any event in the city area?

You could phone up Mallow town Council and ask them do they know when they are going back.

On a sidenote,I think its a great pity that a great athletics coach and a world record holder/world champion could not be accomodated by RTE on the Late Late Show or The Saturday Night Show considering they have been here a few days.

Also it took DCU and Mallow town Council to honour Br.O'Connell.Just what the fcuk are UCC and Cork City Hall doing??????

UCC gave Brian Cody an honourary docturate recently.

He got a great reception by the Munster players yesterday. Isnt that what counts, great respect from his sporting peers for his magnificant achievement. Why would David waste his time talking to two turkeys on rubbish chat shows. It would be a sad day to see this great man walk on to Brendan O Connors set, he aint no media whore like Amir Khan. As they say in the great ball game, David is a big time player

Was at the Munster game yesterday, he got a great response from the crowd, I was on the opposite side of the ground so no photos, booo. Bro. O'Connell given honoury life membership by Munster supporters club as well which was a nice touch I thought.
