So its coming up to that time of year for me again. Insurance renewal. Got my renewal letter during the week to find out it has gone up €80 since last year even though im a year older, a years more no claims no points etc:confused:

Anyway has anyone got any recommendations for an insurance co or broker who they found good to deal with? Prefer one that can be contacted online either buying online or getting a quote online or by email. Phoning all the different ones eats up credit so no point in spending €50 on credit to save it on insurance!!

My basic details so if anyone is in a similar situation let my know what kind of deal you got.
    Cheers

    29 male. Full Irish for 9years. 10 years no claims 0 points/convictions. 04 ford mondeo tdci (130bhp)

This question pops up regularly. If you want to save money then you have to do the leg work which includes ringing brokers and insurance companies directly. There is no shortcut unfortunately. Also most of the big insurance companies and brokers have low call telephone numbers these days. Ringing from a landline will probably also be cheaper than moblie.

Also nobody here can really advise you who the cheapest is, there are too many variables such as address, car type, etc between individuals that insurance companies take into account to be comparitable. In other words my insurance company is cheap for me but might not be for you.

I'm not asking who the cheapest is I'm looking for the best deal. I'm asking for the names of places where other people have got good deals etc. I have contacted most of the common ones, 123,fbd,chill,liberty to name a few. It's the other less well known brokers I'm looking for.

I don't have access to a landline so as I mentioned above online contact is preferred.

How much was the quote out of interest?

There is no cheapest. What was cheap for me yesterday could be expensive on Monday. Insurance is based on constantly changing criteria, which is why you need to get quote reference numbers. The only way to know which is best is to check them all and compare benefits.

There is no shortcut to cheap insurance.

680 fully comp with step back protection. It's with a different company than I was with last year but through the same broker. To stay with the same company was 780.

That's a pretty high quote for the car and your location. I paid €704 fully comp, with all the bells and whistles and full NCB protection with 123.

They were the cheapest by a couple of hundred though compared to the rest!

I'm not looking for a short cut I'm looking for recommended company's and brokers to contact.

AA Insurance came out cheapest for my wife's policy this year (with me as a named driver). It is through Aviva and actually has more cover than our old Zurich policy. Funnily enough, they came up cheapest for the house insurance renewal as well (rsa)..another policy lost by Zurich due to their massive increase in rates for some reason this year.

Allianz direct were the cheapest for the car insurance initially. They like risks from aged 30+. You do however have to add windscreen cover, Ncb protection and a few others which do increase the premium a lot, but still competitive.

I got my insurance recently with JLT Ireland, I found them good to deal with. I got what I think was a good deal, esp seeing as I'm a learner. My insurance through them was €1000 cheaper than the nearest quote!
