Phil Hogan plans to abolish Tralee Town Council. Is this a good or a bad thing for the town? What will its replacement look like?

    Of course!

How may MD's (Municipal Districts) will there be in Kerry?

One advantage of the proposed changes is that the crazy situation where by main roads/footpaths through towns are maintained by the CC and other roads are maintained by the TC!

I think that MD's made up of the main towns and the satellite villages might be a good idea. But if they are too large and diverse they might loose focus.

A lot will depend on how the mergers are managed. When the old Health Boards were merged they made a complete horlicks of it and we ended up with a more expensive less efficient disaster!

Will Tralee or Killarney get Farranfore (and the Airport)?

How will remote but important towns like Dingle or Cahersiveen fare?

How about border communities? This is not such a big problem for kerry (East Kerry / Ballydesmond ect) but it is for the likes of Athlone, Carlow, Portarlington etc What county will they belong to?
