I am wondering can I get freesat in all my bedrooms.
I have a splitter box in the attic that feeds the rooms at present.
If I connect a freesat box with a splitter, will I be able to watch different channels in each room, or is this possible with one freesat box or would I require a box for each room

Any system you set up with 1 box will limit every room to watching the same channel. If you want a choice of what to watch it means a box & a connection from the satellite dish in each room.

In this case how many boxes can be connected to a dish at any one time and if so what do I need to connect multiple boxes

Up to 8 from a Sky dish, without spending silly money, you need an octo lnb fitting to your dish or a quad if you nedd up to 4 rooms, and a cable from dish to each room. Then a receiver for each room.

You can connect as many as you want, how many rooms would you need to have boxes in? Usually an octo lnb does the job for an average house.Run cable from the dish to each room & hook up the boxes.

You'll need one similar to this:

Possibly need to connect to 6 rooms, also I have coaxial cable already to each room will this be ok or do I need new cabling.

There are 8 outputs on the lnb, so each output will feed a single box, or if you use a recording pvr box you will need two outputs.
Your existing co axials should be ok

Not necessarily: the cables might be just about alright for UHF tv signals but could be next to useless for satellite.

OP can take a look here & see what's what. The 'low loss' stuff is practically guaranteed to cause serious problems with satellite IF distribution.

    That's why I said "should"

I still say "should", and would rate the chances of it working perfectly at close to 100%. Low loss crap coax should never be used, but nonetheless if that's what you got installed and given it's a strong satellite signal and your cable run is only from the attic to your tv points, I would say a problem is unlikely unless the cable is damaged.

Lnbs are available in any decent tv shop or loads on ebay around the €20 mark.

I would prefer to make people aware of potential pitfalls.

Your local installer should have them (beware the guy who charged €90 for one as mentioned in another thread) ,also available on Amazon for small money. If you have a Sky dish then it's a 5 minute job to swap your existing one for the new octo.
