I'm just looking at new posts, are you saying that there is little activity in Christian forums, I don't go there myself and I won't be looking it up.

In my experience, the busy ones are either denomination specific or they are love ins. I feel uneasy when too many people agree with me (joke), so its not what I'm looking for :) Nothing like a heated discussion to awaken the passions :)

Why not just stick around here and proclaim the Gospel Jimi? :)

Because it'll make me look at my own hypocrisy too much. Better to project the bad guy as someone else :)

Honestly though, its not that I'm not sticking around (And there was much sadness), its just that I'm looking for a change of scenery. The forum format is a very limited medium IMO in terms of proclaiming the gospel. Forums are great for hammering out ones own arguments. Dispelling ones own ignorance, and sometimes others'. I also like to talk about modern issues in the context of Christianity. The gospel is more lived, than talked about IMO. I don't think anyone will be turned on to the gospel with words on a forum, though fellow Christians like myself can get great insight from the people here. Yourself and PDN have been a tremendous resource, as have others. Gotta give an ode to Wicknight too, but in a different context of course. I believe this forum is in terminal decline, albeit as a result of good intentions, so I'd like to start exploring other fora more, as this place is becoming less relevant to me. I'll of course, always throw my eye in, and interact when moved to do so. So I'm not retiring just yet :) I'm just checking out the rest of the forum landscape. Don't mourn for me yet Phil :)

Oh yeah, and have you any suggestions?

Try Ship of Fools. Plenty of heathens, heterodox and orthodox people there. So much so that it's not obviously a Christian forum. It's can be as rewarding a experience as frustrating.

I'd really like to know where Wolfe is gone too? I haven't seen him post in a while...and Soul Winner...

Bty, ship of fools is a cool site too! :) Fanny recommends lots of cool resources! Interest sites and great talks...

Jimi, you have a way with words, that's your gift, if people respond in a hateful way, it's not because you are saying something hateful, but because you are saying things how they should be said, and I've always found you to be rather honest - I don't think one could ask for more than that...

    Stay that way!

can be hit and miss but a nice bunch.

Ship of Fools is excellent, the discussion forums have a lot of high-church Anglicans debating obscure topics about ritual and liturgy but overall they are a very diverse group with less trouble than that would imply. The Mystery Worshipper reports are quite entertaining too!

I actually think that the Ship of Fools sub forum called Hell helps keep order. It's a place to rant about anything and even call fellow members to if they are acting the prat. Generally if you get called there you receive a drumming down - often with the use of some choice language.

They must have lives in the real world or something :)
Jimi, you have a way with words, that's your gift,

Well thats a first:), but thank you for the compliment

I am actually very glad that you recognise my honesty, as its something I very much value. No doubt it mingles with ignorance, stupidity and abrasiveness at times, but I forgive myself such things. Dishonesty, dis-ingenuity and insincerity are the closest things to unforgivable sins in discussion forums. From a serious discussion POV anyway. As for hatefulness, TBH, I don't really come across such things here, unless its in relation to THAT topic. In all fairness though, its not unexpected (Nor do I think its actually any kind of genuine hate), and I don't really take it too seriously. It can certainly be annoying, especially when its used to avoid the topics etc.
I kind of get the impression that you may think that I'm 'taking my ball and going home' because of such things. :) Just in case you do, I can assure you that 1) I'm not giving up on the place :) and 2) The abuse taken when talking about THAT topic is not unexpected, nor would it make me feel bad. I think it unfortunately goes with the territory. I'm also not one that walks on eggshells much, so I probably have to learn to be a bit more diplomatic, while not wimping out on giving my view or asking the hard questions.

Anyway, I probably completely misread you, so that might be completely irrelevent:) What I can say without any doubt though, is that I appreciate that you were moved enough to give me some moral support. A genuine lady Lmaopml. Thanks.

Cheers everyone for your advice. I think Ship of fools is going to gain a disruptive influence:)

Just be aware that the different fora (and there are quite a few) are distinct. Pugatory is where general chat happens, heaven is where people gather to discuss lighter stuff in good grace and hell, well, there they recommend wearing asbestos underpants and is best avoided.

I've registered now, waiting for approval :)

Either that or I'll try the reddit Christianity or the "Debate a Christian" section for a bit.

Phil, have you been on there before? I suspect the level of discussion isn't up to your standards (unless you like arguing with and being flamed by angry 14 year old American boys in full on rebellion against religion?).

I've posted periodically on the "Debate a Christian" section. Sometimes I've seen the flameposts, they are no different to the AH standard of discussion. Sometimes on that forum, you can get into a really good discussion about your faith, and I think some of the atheists are more willing to concede ground to understand Christianity more than here.

    What's your username? ;)

I think the Reddit format doesn't really encourage easy debate. I wonder if concessions are merely people who have lost their thread (among the permanently upvoted 'F*ck 'em all' nonsense)?

Having said that, I've seem some spectacular arguments on there. I've saved a few, I'll see if I can point you to them. ETA Site currently down.

The r/atheism section of reddit is a disgrace. They pump out so much ****e it's impossible to challenge it all.

By concessions, I mean that people are willing to listen to your point, in a lot of cases give a well thought out response. Wait for a reply, and it seems more times rather than not that something is being achieved. In respect to both parties.

Here most people casually ignore what you say without real or valuable consideration.

    Have looked at http://www.christianforums.com/ ?

There are quite a few boards there, both general and denomination specific so maybe you can find some that you might like.

Have ye heard of the Irish Catholics' forum?

    http://irishcatholics.proboards.com

It's small enough, but the debates can get very lively there. Well worth joining.
