Squak code 7700 is the emergency transponder setting and alerts anyone with a radar screen that there is an aircraft in trouble up there

Just wondering, in case of these diversions for medical reasons. Who's liable for the diversion cost?

I think the airlines just suck it up themselves, however if it is a diversion for rowdy behavior, trouble on board they do tend to go after the offending passenger.

Has there been any more about what happened here?

I'm amazed the Avherald hasn't made any report on it at all

The fact that they haven't reported means it probably was just a med emergency. Simon told me that there are several a day and he just can't report them all, both for time reasons and the fact that they're not directly relevant to airline safety.
