Hi everybody. John is my name. I recently took up running at 43 years of age. I am now up to 7 miles at a pace of 9 min per mile. I am really enjoying it. But I have a problem. When I'm running I am getting a pain in the back of my neck and its staying there after the run as well now. It's like a knot in my neck or something like that. Any advice? My runners are aldi's best. Not great I know. Could bad runners be the cause of this?

not the advice you may wish to hear, but there are so many potential causes of this that only someone who can see you in person and assess you can tell you. Find a recommended physio in your locality and go from there.

Thanks for the reply überwolf. I kinda knew a trip to a physio was the answer.

[*]We do not give out medical advice. Injuries may have common symptoms but are unique to the individual - just because you were able to keep training with X injury or were out for months because of Y doesn't mean that the same will apply to someone else. Bad advice given here and followed through could aggravate an injury and prevent an athlete making a full recovery in as rapid a time as possible. This restriction is Boards-wide and purposely heavy-handed. So don't feel offended if your thread about a sprained ankle (which you may deem "non-medical") gets locked.
