    Im in my 1st year of a 3 year course (Level 7). I was wondering about my end result. I, talking about the likes of 1st class honours, 2.1, 2.2 etc.

    Are 1st class honours only available for level 8 degrees?
    Also are these awards only available to level 8 degrees?

    Does your GPA carry through the years?
    Are these awards awarded through an average of all your years or just the last one?

    First class honours are only available for Honours Degrees (Level 8). The equivalent breakdown for Ordinary Degrees (Level 7) is usually as follows:

    Distinction (>=70%)
    Merit 1 (60-69%)
    Merit 2 (50-59%)
    Pass (40-49%)

    The award of most, but not all, Ordinary Degrees is usually based solely on the final year average. Some, however, do take results in other years into account. You'd need to contact your course coordinator to check this.
