    Hey all,

    A little embarrassing question...

The term "Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer"...Does it mean let it boil and immediately bring it back down? Half the heat?

Sorry if this is a really stupid question:o

In a nut shell, yes, for me I leave it boil for a good 30/40 seconds and then reduce to simmer

Half the heat for simmer...it suggests letting it simmer for 30-45 minutes is that not quiet long?

20/25 mins should be enough for that :)

Normally a boil means the liquid is bubbling continuously all over the surface, simmer means one or two bubbles at a time breaking the surface. The amount of heat involved will depend on your stovetop, the size of the ring, the size and shape of the pot and the consistency of the liquid.
